Touraine, in the central Loire Valley, is the birthplace of Sauvignon Blanc and produces some of the best in the world. Domaine de la Campanette’s vineyards extend over two AOP areas: Touraine and Valençay, where they produce about 100,000 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc per year. The vines grow on the ancient river terraces of ‘Le Cher’ (a tributary of the Loire) and on two types of soil: flint clays and shell clays.

Viticulture here is sustainable, and yields are kept low at 38 hectoliters per hectare on average.  The grapes are picked when fully ripe and fermented using the modern techniques of temperature control.  The wine then rests in glass-lined concrete tanks for six months before bottling. The priority is to extract a maximum of fruit aromas and just the right amount of tannin and acidity to produce a perfect structure, so that the wine is an absolute pleasure to drink.
