Located in the heart of the Chinon appellation, the Domaine des Clos Godeaux comprises 28 hectares of vines spread out over five communes.  The vineyard stands on gravel plains, clay-siliceous ridges and clay-limestone slopes, farmed using sustainable viticulture methods.

The Brocourt family, originally from Normandy, arrived here in the 1940s. Always passionate and talented about making wine, Second-generation and current winegrower Philippe Brocourt has been farming "clos" (walled vineyards) and single vineyards such as the "Les Maupas" since 1986, after taking over from his mother at 21 years of age.

Vinification takes place in a modern facility in thermoregulated stainless steel vats.  The Chinon “Les Maupas” is vinified in stainless steel tanks with ambient yeasts and aged on fine lees to reflect the fruit-forward aspects of Cabernet Franc. Philippe also produces richer bottlings from older vines such as “Les Vieilles Vignes” from other hillsides of the vineyard.  The denser and more structured wines from clay and limestone plateaux and hillsides mature in oak barrels and casks. Aging takes place in tufa cellars which are particularly well suited to this type of operation.
