Located in Muscadet Sèvre Maine in the western Loire Valley, Julien Braud took over part of the family estate in 2012.  On a mission to highlight the individual terroirs of the region as well as the potential beauty of Melon de Bourgogne, he humbly began his production with only 3 hectares of vine. Now working alongside his wife, they farm 13 hectares and work entirely organically. Their vines are planted on 3 different soil types—Amphibolite, Gneiss, and Gabbro—each functioning as an avenue for optimal varietal expression. The pair is quality-minded and believe the work they do in the vineyard is paramount for achieving the best possible harvest.

The Braud estate takes a biodynamic as well as minimalist approach. Sustainable farming techniques are used to minimize soil compaction and keep healthy the surrounding flora and fauna, and synthetic chemicals are never applied to the grapevines. All fruit is 100% manually harvested, and after a gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation occurs. All bottlings are aged on lees for varying amount of time, depending on the cuvée.
