Neomo represents the ying-yang partnership between Jesse Giacomelli, winemaker for Beckstoffer Vineyards in Rutherford, Napa Valley, and Evan Abrams, NYC - based sommelier as a new moment for small-lot, hand crafted Cabernet Sauvignon.

Before collaborating with Evan, Jesse honed his skills as a winemaker at a small boutique winery in Alexander Valley which led to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work as winemaker for Andy Beckstoffer of Beckstoffer Vineyards. Over the next several years, Jesse immersed himself in understanding Beckstoffer’s farming techniques, soil types, and terroir, all while refining his winemaking craft in the heart of Napa Valley. His next step was to create his own small-production brand, Copper Bear Wines, which showcase his winemaking style centered on crafting wines that emphasize balance and finesse. 

Working off the success of Copper Bear and with Evan’s savvy of the everyday wine consumer, the two decided to create a blend of single vineyards resulting in an affordable Napa Valley AVA cabernet sauvignon. For Neomo, Jesse presents his neomodern winemaking skills using modern tools and guarded restraint.  He moderates his use of new French oak, balances alcohol and acidity levels, and regulates fruit dominance to achieve softness and length on the palate. This technique leads to an elegant, refined wine that highlights the character and complexity of the exceptional Napa Valley soils, locally known as Cortina gravel and Rutherford dust, in which the prestigious vines grow.

With an annual production of fewer than 300 cases, Neomo is the epitome of purity, balance, and restraint expressing the wine variety and terroir of Napa Valley’s most historic and sought-after vineyards in Calistoga and Rutherford AVA’s.
