Château Grand Boise’s vineyard is planted on the slopes and terraces of the premium sub-appellation of Cotes de Provence Sainte Victoire.  The landscape is defined by Mount Sainte-Victoire to the north and the Sainte-Baume massif to the south, which create a corridor which protects the valley itself. It is therefore a true continental climate, protected from maritime influences and kept naturally healthy by winds which regularly blow through the valley.

The château itself dates from 1610, and by the 20th century was associated with various agricultural activities including olive and almond groves, cattle ranching, and sericulture.  In the present day all these (except the olives) have given way to viticulture.  The property consists of 400 hectares of forest and 30 hectares of vines spread over 80 different plots, with soil composed of clay, pink marble and limestone. The vines are grown in parcels and terrasses from an altitude of 320 meters at the entrance of the domain, to 650 meters at the summit, where the brunet plot lies.  The high altitude and diurnal temperature contributes to the exceptional style of Grand Boise wines, and brings characteristic freshness, depth and complexity to the wines, which are all made from organic grapes.

Château Grand Boise has recently modernized its winery equipment and buildings. Anaerobic transport, an ultramodern sorting table, and destemming ensure that only perfect whole grapes are used and damaged grapes and stalks are rejected.  In order that the harvest and the must are treated gently, transfers are either gravity fed, or carried out using a peristaltic pump.

The Red wines are vinified in concrete vats and then aged in large barrels of 400-600 liters for 12 to 15 months.  The white wines are vinified and aged in 500-liter barrels from Burgundy. Rosé wines start with a cold maceration of the lightly crushed red grapes.  The juice is subsequently separated from the skins by bleeding off or by pressing, then transferred to vats to ferment.  The wines are certified USDA and NOP Organic.
