Bovio Barolo 2015

Wine Spectator: 93 pts

A fruity style, this shows cherry, plum, licorice, iron and tobacco flavors. Firm tannins provide a base of support, but overall this is elegant and expressive. Fine balance and length. Best from 2023 through 2040. —B.S.

James Suckling: 92 pts

The nose makes a soulful and classical impression with lightly dried cherries and tarry nuances, as well as abundant dried rose petals and rosehips. The palate has a juicy and elegant feel with springy tannins that carry bright strawberry and red-cherry flavors. Drink or hold.

Wine Enthusiast: 92 pts

Aromas of rose petal, leather and strawberry emerge from the glass. The juicy, chewy palate offers Marasca cherry, raspberry jam and star anise alongside fine-grained tannins. Drink 2021–2027.
