Casale del Giglio Shiraz 2017

 James Suckling: 91 pts

A rich and layered young wine with ripe blackberry, blueberry and cherry character. Medium to full body. Round tannins. Verges on jammy, but delicious. Drink or hold.

Vinous: 90 pts

Good deep ruby. Aromas of dark berries, spices and licorice are complicated by smoke and a hint of cracked black pepper. Juicy and tangy but also ripe black/red fruit flavors are complicated by a minty nuance and more spicy black pepper. A nicely delineated wine with suave tannins, a luscious mouthfeel and outstanding length. This Shiraz put Casale del Giglio on the quality wine map many years ago and it still is one of the estate’s best wines in most vintages.
