Ledge Vineyard Drive 2014

Vinous: 93pts

Brilliant violet. Powerful mineral- and spice-tinged red fruit liqueur aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied lavender and white pepper. Concentrated yet lively and sharply delineated, offering intense black raspberry and spicecake flavors and an exotic Asian spice quality that builds on the back half. Shows wonderful clarity and lift on the finish, which is framed by silky, harmonious tannins that fold smoothly into the intense, juicy fruit.

Wine Advocate: 91pts

Checking in as a blend of 30% each of Grenache, Syrah and Zinfandel, with 10% Tannat, the 2014 Vineyard Drive sports a deeper, more opaque color than the Adams Ranch Vineyard and gives up lots of candied violets, pepper, exotic spice, plums and cedar. Medium to full-bodied, focused and elegant, with a rich, yet streamlined and elegant style, it's another outstanding wine from Mark that will drink nicely for a decade.
