Bruno Rocca Barbera d'Asti 2016

James Suckling: 92

Ripe fruit and orange peel with a hint of dark chocolate. Full-bodied, layered and rich with so much fruit and beauty. Drink or hold.

Wine Advocate: 90

The 2016 Barbera d'Asti is vinified in precisely the same manner as the estate's Barbera d'Alba, so you get a fun opportunity to taste the territorial differences between these two Barbera hot spots. Compared to Alba, the grape from Asti (near Nizza) tends to show more crunch and bite. There is a sharper and more tonic quality of fruit here, and you are more aware of the natural acidity as well. Compared to Alba's more broad and horizontal approach, this wine is upright and vertical. This wine was released in January 2018.
